Under Kwan Hong Kee’s leadership, he acknowledged and recognised the importance of tending the graves of departed family members. As the head of the family, he made provision to maintain and care for the graves by providing shares in Kwong Sing & Co. (Refer to the Red book for the list of share distribution) Over a period of time, this tradition has been eroded by the lack of support from the company. Some family members continued to maintain the family gravesites without funds from the trust set up by their father. Chinese families annually visit the gravesites of relatives to pay their respects. This tradition of recognising one’s ancestors is practiced by Chinese families all over the world and is important part of Kwan Hong Kee’s teaching.
